Machine Weather is an erasure poem taken mostly from Poems for the Millenium. It acts as a poetic climate report of sorts. The procedure I used appropraites mentions of the atmosphere, the weather, the air, etc. and organizes each sculpture by the year they were written. Despite the difficulty of placing a date to a poem due to the duration of poetic production and publication, I organized the erasures chronologically to mimic an ice core sample of the atmosphere, from 1945 (the so-called beginning of the “Great Acceleration” or “Anthropocene”) to the new millenium.
